Nakai Kazuya (中井和哉, November 25, 1967 - ) is a Japanese voice actor (seiyuu) born in Hyogo prefecture, Kobe, Japan. He is currently affiliated with Aoni Production.

Before becoming a voice actor, he worked as a local government employee, and acquired the skills of “surveying.” Bearing the thought that “Will I live the rest of my life as a government worker like this,” he went to Aoni coaching school on weekends and holidays while working.

In 1995 he made his debut in the anime “Imagination Science World Gulliver Boy.” Immediately after his debut, he got the role of Witz Sou in “After War Gundam X.” Afterwards, he continued to study narration, but having been selected to play Roronoa Zoro of “One Piece,” he came to be active as a seiyuu in anime and games.

  • He often plays the roles of swordsmen or samurai, but actually he himself has belonepobia.
  • In the SBS seiyuu corner of “One Piece” vol. 53, it states that he likes kashiwa mochi.
  • During his days at Aoni coaching school, Fukuyama Jun was his junior.
  • When preparing for the “One Piece” audition, he thought “I definitely want to play Zoro,” and was pleased when it was decided that he would play Zoro, but his wife was a bit unhappy because she thought Sanji was better.
